Overview

I create steady energy.

Through Liberatus I build insightful thought leaders by giving them a creative outlet to write about American unity. Together we move forward with a spirit of endurance regardless of challenges.

With eighteen other writers in American politics published, 60 content contributors, and supporters in 20 states, I develop new leaders to inspire American unity based on fifteen years of firsthand leadership experience in grassroots politics, Congress, and business—and I do so with a deeper, contemplative view. By putting my leadership values of empowerment, ownership, and clarity into practice, I create a determined and exceptional work atmosphere that enables teams to achieve monumental results.

While we were creating Volume One with twenty contributors over the last five and a half years, I also led a team of 60 shoppers at Instacart to pay my personal expenses, and in the process worked with my fellow shift leads and site manager to rewrite and develop a three-day training program, a new standard for performance evaluation, and shopper engagement initiatives that empowered our team to beat the company’s quality metric goal regularly and by as much as eight points.

In the fall of 2020, I joined Mark Bauer’s congressional race two and a half weeks before the filing deadline and led the team to gather 529 signatures to get on the ballot while also creating walk books, recruiting volunteers, and personally gathering over 20% of the total signatures collected.

I am resolute in my commitment to create value for all stakeholders in any context so that we can all participate in the work in a way that fits our ethos and values and allows everyone to thrive. Inspired by my grandparents, I am a steady leader determined to surpass big goals and stay the course to create a culture of American unity for the next generation.

Forward to Unity

As a writer, my passion is telling stories of healing and restoration, advocating for the powerless, and running with endurance through the adventure of life. Since 2007 my professional work experience has been anchored in American politics. From traveling thousands of miles advocating for political ideals and candidates across Ohio, South Carolina, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas, to crafting hundreds of constituent letters and talking points for a Member of Congress on Capitol Hill, I know as a participant in public life that it too often becomes the art of bad storytelling. But to move our country forward towards unity, we need narratives rooted not in ideologies but in the peace of Christ, and that’s why as a campaign manager for an Independent congressional race in Texas, I advocated for a Truth and Reconciliation Caucus to become the centerpiece of the policy platform. Ultimately, I believe the stories we tell change us; when we personally live stories of healing we can tell them with honesty. Through photography I hope to visually reinforce words that inspire life rhythms reconnected with our Creator by capturing the natural world as it was meant to be discovered. If you’d like to connect, you can contact me by clicking on the "write me" tab below.

Liberatus

A nonprofit with a mission to inspire American unity. A group of colleagues and I started Liberatus in March 2015 and so far 60 people have been part of content creation. Most recently, we’ve crowdfunded and shipped Liberatus Volume One. It’s a 224-page graphic editorial advocating for refugees and the displaced.

Nations

A voice for reformers. In 2017 I had the opportunity to interview Eric and Lisa So for Nations Journal Volume 3. I've also written for the blog series on Alternate Routes, about endurance in "The Uphill Mile," and about political engagement in “We Become the Stories We Tell: A Reflection on the Attack of the US Capitol.”

Center for Christian Civics

Empowering the church to be lamps on stands, across the political spectrum. Founded by my friend Rick Barry, the Center for Christian Civics also proclaims the good news of how the gospel can transform politics. In January 2017, they published my blog post on how to "Run Congress Like A Congress."

Can We Make Love Our Aim, in Politics?

The great story matters because it gives us a pattern for how to respond to current affairs whether at home or across the world when our trust, security, and freedom are in doubt.
