Win on election night, regardless of the vote count.
Messaging and story creation for candidates, campaigns, brands, and leaders.
South Nixon is the name of the avenue where my grandparents lived in Ohio, where they showed me how to be conservative and liberal at the same time. The slogan, Write if you get word is a line my grandfather would say when we said goodbye. Based on how he lived his life, it meant more than keep in touch. Write if you get word means say something that matters. When candidates for office say something that matters, election night is a win regardless of the vote count.
I can help you say something that matters and make election night a win regardless of the vote count by writing your campaign narrative.
Over the last sixteen years of work in American politics and business, I’ve written hundreds of letters for a Member of Congress, staffed committee hearings, and written speeches and talking points delivered on the House Floor. I’ve seen the words I’ve written quoted in the press and my policy idea to create a Congressional Truth & Reconciliation Caucus secured national media coverage. I’ve worked with Republican, Independent, and Democratic candidates for office and have been on the ground and active for right-leaning causes in Ohio, South Carolina, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, Georgia, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. While building Liberatus and working with stakeholders across the entire political spectrum to write more than 150 articles on healing and unity, I’ve been relentless about studying history, defining and honing my leadership values of empowerment, ownership, and clarity, and my understanding of communication and story design, learning from Hollywood’s most sought-after story instructor, and applying those story principles to what I write.
What I’ve learned in my career is that when we work in politics to say something that matters instead of looking for significance, approval, validation, and the defeat of the other side, we can make every day a win regardless of the vote count.
When you work with me to write your campaign narrative, I can help you lead your campaign knowing that you’ll get the best effort out of yourself, treat others with respect, and create something new and worthwhile for your community.
Specifically, writing a campaign narrative with me over a series of recorded interviews and extensive conversations will give you:
A campaign narrative document that serves as a North Star to keep your campaign on track saying something that matters in all your messaging, including stump speeches, press releases, social media posts, and fundraising emails
Honesty about antagonism and how you hope to solve problems
An introductory statement you can use on your website
A candidate bio that establishes your qualifications, a deeper sense of your values, and your motives for running
Time and space to collect your thoughts and speak with authenticity without having to poll test everything you say and without being afraid of how people will respond
An easy way to explain your leadership plan (the journey you are inviting people into)
A way to avoid team confusion about the vision and direction of your campaign, so you can bring points of conflict into the open at the start so that they can be fuel for success, not a house fire
Clarity about what you’re going to do on the campaign trail and once you’re in office
Values to guide how you relate to others as you campaign and especially when you’re criticized
Confidence that you’ll be celebrating a win on election night, regardless of the vote count
Every campaign tells a story about who we are as individuals, how we relate to each other, and what we will create together. Closing out your campaign with a win on election night regardless of the vote count starts with saying something that matters. It means finding your inner Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, or Harriet Tubman and using your power to help people thrive.
